Hello! I'm an MSDE certified mathematics teacher for grades 4-9. I taught 5th, 7th and 8th grade math in Baltimore City for 5 years. I also worked for the Yleana Leadership Foundation tutoring Baltimore City high school students the mathematics portion of the SAT. I am able to provide tutoring services for any age range in K-12, but specialize in elementary math and pre-algebra, or alternatively, SAT focused tutoring. I have a deep love of the subject area and have experience working with students at all ability levels, including students who are English language learners and students with disabilities. My approach is grounded in making learning fun and accessible, while also focusing on the student's personal development. Additionally, I am open to providing education based services in conjunction with child care. Please reach out with further questions to see if I am the right fit for your family!

Starling is a gifted teacher. I wish she were my daughter's full time teacher. My daughter relearned a whole years worth of pre-Algebra in four months meeting with her two hours a week. She always hated math because she felt stupid and was afraid to ask questions. She didn't want to be embarrassed by saying she didn't understand in class and she just couldn't learn online. Now she likes math thanks to Starling. She is confident again and no longer needs Starling. Worth every penny.Starling was patient and knew exactly what my daughter needed to learn. I don't know how she can teach all day and be so fresh in the evening too. This was not easy because at that hour the ADHD meds have worn off and holding attention is no easy feat. She was a pro at refocusing and redirecting her. Not only did she refresh a whole year of what she missed struggling online she also prepared her for the Catholic High School entrance exam. Her scores went from below average to above. We will see her at SAT time!
