About Sonya

I have worked with children and young adults since my time as a student at Wesleyan University. At University, I studied a multitude of subjects including the psychology of reading with tutoring experience and study at a local elementary school. After graduating with a BA in Studio Art, I spent time as an Artist-in-Residence and Innovation Instructor focusing on process based art and fostering empowerment for students through art! For the past two years, I've been working as a substitute teacher for school districts in Dauphin County including Lower Dauphin, Central Dauphin, and Milton Hershey School. I have taught a range of subjects including: art, math, social studies, English, and Business Ed. I have worked with a range of students from elementary to high school level to refine their writing, comprehension, and test taking skills. I am a believer in the power of social and emotional based learning, and find joy helping students breaks through academic barriers.
