I'm looking for a job that lets me spend quality one on one time with seniors who are in need of companionship. I started caring for seniors in 2020. It was near the start of the COVID-19 lockdowns and I worked in the activities department in a Memory Care building. While not a caregiver, I often had to assist with dressing and feeding and was responsible for their well-being outside of medical care. I've spent time in Skilled Nursing and got my Advanced Activity Professional certification last year. I'm currently a Lifestyle Director at an Assisted Living Community responsible for 70+ residents. In my spare time, I like to play board games and D&D, work on crafts, listen to music, read and spend time at Woodland Park Zoo. One thing you should know about me is that I always put the best interests of the senior first.
I truly don’t know how to put into words how grateful our family is for Sonia. She is, without question, one of the most compassionate, dependable, and genuinely caring people we have ever had the privilege of knowing. Sonia cared for both of my grandparents during an incredibly difficult and emotional time for our family. From the very beginning, it was clear that this was so much more than a job to her. She treated my grandparents with patience, dignity, kindness, and genuine love. She took the time to understand their individual needs, personalities, routines, and preferences, and she always made sure they felt safe, comfortable, respected, and cared for. What makes Sonia so special is her heart. She has an incredible ability to make people feel at ease, and knowing she was with my grandparents gave our entire family a sense of peace that is impossible to put a price on. She was attentive, trustworthy, incredibly hardworking, and consistently went above and beyond what was expected of her. As my grandparents’ needs became more complicated, Sonia remained patient, compassionate, and supportive. She wasn’t just there for them — she was there for our entire family. Having someone we trusted so completely helped take an enormous amount of emotional stress off all of us. Unfortunately, due to my grandparents’ increasing medical and care needs, our family ultimately had to make the heartbreaking decision to transition them into a higher level of care. If circumstances were different, we would have kept Sonia with our family forever. Saying goodbye to her as their caregiver has genuinely been one of the hardest parts of this transition. Anyone fortunate enough to have Sonia care for their loved one is getting an extraordinary caregiver and an even more extraordinary human being. I would trust her with the people I love most without hesitation. She became part of our family, and we will always be grateful for the love, comfort, dignity, and kindness she gave my grandparents. Sonia truly is the kind of caregiver every family hopes and prays to find. We cannot recommend her highly enough. ❤️
