Hi, I am a 25-year-old Preschool teacher. I graduated from Sac State with a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies. I am a very bubbly and fun, yet responsible and organized person. I love working with children and have about 8 years of experience in childcare. My first ever job was as a lifeguard and swim instructor then I became a teacher's assistant, and am now currently a Preschool teacher. The current class I teach is between the ages of 2 and 3, however, I have experience substitute teaching for grades up to 8th. I also worked as a summer camp counselor at the school I currently work at.

Not a good experience and a word of warning to anyone reading this. Over the brief couple of weeks she worked for us, we immediately noticed several areas where she needs major improvement relating to child care. Sierra displayed short temper, concerning attitude, and negative behavior toward our children. There were several incidents that were deeply concerning. The first incident our daughter was fussing after a nap and clearly just needed a redirection of her emotion to a toy or something positive/happy but instead she kept repeating "Why are you crying?" and "I don't know WHYYY you are crying?" over and over again with a noticeable tone. Second incident - one of us works from home and was in the nearby office while Sierra was preparing breakfast for our children. Our oldest (2 YO) son wanted oatmeal and Sierra put milk in it. Being a toddler, our son was very particular about this and made a grunting sound out of frustration. Instead of encouraging him to use his words to describe what was wrong or how to rectify the situation with gentle language, she flatly (with massive atittude) stated "WHY are you screaming?" - he burst in to tears immediately and repeated "I'm not screaming." she repeated it, "WHY are you screaming?" The lack of empathy really stood out and we immediately told her that we use positive uplifters. It was one of the most upsetting incidents that we have ever witnessed with someone making one of our children feel that way. After our son was dropped off at preschool and was picked up, TWO teachers came up to us and said "Did something happen with Eli today? he has needed extra love and has teared up randomly twice today" - he has never done this before. The third incident occured later in that day and was when Sierra put our youngest 15 month old down for a nap. There was a pacifier on the ground next to her crib and she picked it up and physically THREW it in the crib, nearly hitting her head. She didn't even check to see if it hit her or if she was okay. Instead of working through a conversation about how we prefer our childcare providers speak to our children with positivity, love and compassion, Sierra quickly mentioned how she had never seen such "bad" children before and how the preschool she was employed at previously (whom Sierra did not provide a reference for because, an early red flag we shouldn't have ignored) would kick out children who were also bad. She mentioned and said, verbatim, how she had "never dealt with highly emotional toddlers) and only had experience with children with "emotional intelligence," insinuating our son lacked in this quality.
