About Shon

I currently work as a Math fellow at a middle school in Springfield, MA. I work with 6th graders in small group settings to help reinforce the material they've seen in their math class. I helped students, not only with understanding their studies, but also with becoming better students. I assisted them in developing strategies on studying, time management, and on setting attainable goals. I showed them how I succeeded in these subjects but I also showed them different ways to make the material easier since everyone has different learning styles and backgrounds. In addition to being a tutor, I also served as a facilitator for a program that assigns academically successful students with students who have been placed on academic probation and students who are having trouble adjusting to college. I was responsible for assisting in the social, emotional, and intellectual development of my students through peer counseling and motivational interviewing. I received the "Facilitator of the Year" award due to the strong impact that I had on my students.
