About Shelby

While I was in undergrad (Spring Hill College), I tutored at middle schools and high schools for 6 hours a week (all 4 years of college). It was mostly in math (because that's what the kids seemed to need the most), but I did all subjects. After undergrad, I did a year in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, where I worked with refugee youth in Syracuse, where I did ENL learning and tutoring assistance. When COVID-19 hit, my job was focused primarily on remote tutoring. I would help our ENL students (K-12) with all subjects get their homework done throughout the week; I also provided academic support by connecting with their teachers and making sure they had the proper resources to succeed and learn. During my year at home in between JVC and coming to Cleveland, I tutored a 5th grader in math on a weekly basis. All-in-all, I have roughly 10 years of tutoring experience with a variety of different subjects and grade levels.
