About Shelby

I started caring for children at the age of 13, with babysitting jobs and the before and after school care of my siblings. This eventually turned into nannying during the summer throughout high school, and weekend babysitting gigs during the school year. As I entered college, I started teaching swimming lessons and continued to babysit on the weekends. Eventually, I was hired by a family and was a part time nanny for them everyday after school. I was with them for three years. Since then, I have taught in public schools with general education classrooms from the 3rd-6th grade levels. I also have taught gifted curriculums in both literature and mathematics. I also taught in classrooms that were up to 50% special education students with IEP goals. I am currently pursuing my masters in school counseling and have a passion for equitable classrooms and social emotional learning.
