Shayna applied for my position and we spoke by phone. She expressed that the position seemed a great fit for her and then said she was speaking with another family that was offering more money and would follow up with me the next day after weighing her options. She them messaged and said she was still trying to connect with other family, mentioned the rate difference again and that she would contact me the next afternoon. This all seemed a bit odd, but I asked her to keep me posted as my timeline was short to get care booked. We never received further communication after that. While it is understandable that everyone needs to have their needs met, it is unprofessional to waste a parent's time in applying, interviewing, expressing interest, and then not following through. It does seem as though she was making no secret of sourcing her care to the highest bidder perhaps in an effort to raise the rate. My post was very specific on rate of pay, ect. We have hired another candidate however this was a disconcerting experience with this caregiver.
