I am the oldest of 10 children and grew up in a rural part of Wisconsin. I married seven years ago and moved to Chicago where I reside with my husband and children. I am a teacher. I earned a bachelor's degree in Broad Field Science and Secondary Education and a master's degree in Learning Technology. I taught science for 12 years, but now that I have three children of my own, I am seeking to take a break from teaching and caring for a classroom of children and instead teach and care for my children and yours. Apart from my own family, I have many years of experience caring for multiple aged siblings including twins.

I am so grateful that we found Shawna! Shawna has provided phenomenal care for our daughter from 12-19 months. As first time parents, we were nervous about someone watching her outside of our home, but Shawna’s kindness, professionalism, responsiveness, and natural ability to connect with our daughter put us at ease right away. After spending the day with Shawna, she always comes home happy, well fed and well rested. She also loves playing with Shawna’s kids when they get home from school. Shawna is conscientious about not letting the kids in her care have screen time and takes allergies very seriously. Seriously, Shawna is amazing.
