About Shawna

My favorite part of my job is watching kids grow their love for learning. I began tutoring at my high schools summer school programs. This was where I grew my love for teaching. I watched students go from repetitive summer school enrollments to scoring 4's and 5's on their end of year math placement tests (when I was in school this was highest scores you could achieve on tests). I loved breaking a complex topic down into individual and relatable stories for each student so they can find their path with Math moving forward in the school year. Eventually I was able to work with these students and their families during the school year. Currently I homeschool 3 children (5th, 8th, and 9th grade) and have watched their love for learning grow over the past 3 years. I have worked with students with many learning challenges (dyslexia, ADHD, and ASD) so am familiar with adapting to a students learning pace and style.
