I have been a proven first class certified Reading Specialist for over 20 years and use the following methods in my work: Orton-Gillingham Multi-Sensory Program, Lindamood-Bell Visualizing and Verbalizing, Step-Up-To-Writing, Barton Reading and Spelling Program, and Wilson Reading Program. (In addition, I've taught Kindergarten through 6th grade and homeschooled my daughter and son through 8th grade. I'm proud to say they both have their Master's Degree.) The first step is to provide the parent with a diagnostic analysis of their student's needs. I then create an individualized plan for each student and develop the underlying foundation necessary for reading, spelling, literacy skills, and comprehension. All of my students have experienced success in either reaching their reading grade level, while some have even moved up two grade levels. Excellent references upon requests from school principals and parents. I am located in the Bay Area.

Sharon worked with my twin sons, age 7, on basic phonics and prereading skills. Both have learning differences and challenges with attention. While each of my sons have very different profiles, Sharon adjusted to each of their needs. She worked diligently and consistently to develop their skills. And, had both of them reading basic CVC words in less that two months. My boys were very resistant to working with Sharon given difficulty with attention and past frustration. Sharon was not deterred. She was firm but encouraging, incredibly patient, direct but loving and supportive. While I can't say my boys loved the work, I know they loved Sharon and knew that she loved them back and was deeply committed to their success. I look forward to working with Sharon again when our school schedule permits. She is an expert at what she does and wonderful with children and parents.
