About Shakiah

I have been tutoring children and adults that range from typically developing to those with extreme learning disabilities since I was 12. I have always had a love for tutoring, because I had difficulty with grasping ideas and learning certain subjects for as long as I can remember. Due to this fact I realized that it is easy to fall out of a teachers radar with today's increasing class sizes. Naturally, in order to progress, something had to give. So I started looking at things another way, trying to learn things on my own and I realized that sometimes students just need a little more creativity when it comes to learning. In my approached I like to make up songs and different forms of repetition when I am learning. As my friends and siblings who were college while I was in high school, realized that my grades were increasing, they began to reach out to me to see what I was doing differently. Through helping them, I became the college level Biology and Algebra tutor that you see today.
