Setaita was offered the caregiving position based on her interview and outstanding reference. A few days before her initial start date on Monday (Labor Day), she asked if she could change her start date to Tuesday so she could extend her weekend trip with a family member. I acquiesced. On her new start date of Tuesday, she contacted me that she was too tired from her trip to come to work, and she could try to find a replacement for me. Later that day, I notified her that the job offer was rescinded. My justification for this action was based on my complaint during the interview of the difficulty of finding a reliable caregiver and the stress of caring for my relative without help. Meanwhile, Setaita disclosed her lengthy caregiving career. Therefore, someone who is so seasoned should be more professional.
