I love to help students connect with books by helping them see the lessons and knowledge we gain from reading. I do this through using high interest text, supported with effective questioning, modeling, phonics when needed, high frequency word lists and lots and lots of positive reinforcement! Sometimes this extra, positive attention is all your child needs to "get it." The social pressure of "being right" in school is enough to make a child hate reading. Allow me to use my calming nature to get rid of the anxiety and bring joy back into learning! Along with being a highly effective classroom teacher, I am also a mom of 2 boys, so I know all about the distractions that are competing with the written word!
