About Sandy

I was dad's caregiver after he was diagnosed with liver cancer. After he passed my husband and I became caregivers for my mom who had dementia. In Dad's final weeks we ate his favorite foods, stayed up late watching old movies and I listened to his many stories about his life. We talked about death and our feelings about it. Mom had taken up embroidery shortly after she was diagnosed. I love to sew. I would sew doll clothes and Mom would embroider pillowcases. We would sip tea and chit chat for hours. My husband has also gone into caregiving. He takes care of men only. I take care of women only. Our main goal has always been to keep people in their homes treating them with respect and love. The same way we would want to be treated if we were in their shoes. The work is very rewarding, and it's an honor to be a part of someone's final journey.
