I have 15 years experience working with the elderly population and 12 years working with Dementia. I do personal care, cooking, cleaning, laundry, companionship and more. I am also a certified medical assistant and certified in advanced CPR. I try to keep them active, and socially engaged.. most of the folks I have worked with I have stayed with until the end. Quality of life is very important and my goal is to keep them in their homes as long as possible.

Sandy represented herself well in person, affirming all of the information in her profile. She assured us that she could adequately care for our 76 y.o. father who was being discharged after 5 weeks in rehab. We were very clear about the support he required and she assured us she was qualified and ready to work. The first evening she was with us, she said the first night would be difficult, "like a newborn", with him being up a lot. 5 hours later, at midnight she sent a text saying she could not do the job, that my father was being mean and difficult. Upon getting to the house, my father was quietly laying on the couch. After she left, my sister and I to care for him, we discovered that she did not have an adult diaper on him, which she 100% knew was required. He had gotten out of bed, possibly to go to the bathroom and wet the bed and floor. She talked a good game and was very convincing but didn't even have the decency to make it through one night and provide the most basic of necessities for him. I the end, it ended up being a blessing in disguise, because our family, including my father, realized that there was no way he would remain at home. The humiliation that my father felt from having his daughters care for him in that capacity, also helped him understand that he needed to return to a long term care. So in the end, we would like to thank Sandy. Her complete misrepresentation of her skill set and work ethic, helped our family arrive at a difficult decision in a very short time. If you are looking for someone to provide adequate care for your loved ones, this is not the person.
