I am a nanny because children bring me great joy. When we are not reading or running around being silly, I like to take long adventure walks to discover cool new things in nature. When they are tired of picking up pine cones or looking under rocks for worms, we might go to a playground. I was the oldest of 10 siblings. After college I was a preschool teacher for two years, then after my first son was born I ran a daycare out of my home. I have worked as a FT nanny with 12+ families over the past 30 years. Most recently I worked with two wonderful children full-time from infancy through 9 years old. For the children, I am playful, warm, affectionate, encouraging, nurturing, and creative. For the parents, I am reliable, communicative, and responsible. I am looking for a full-time role in which I am valued for my contribution and commitment. Outside work I enjoy spending time with my sons, reading, writing, gardening, live music, and long walks in nature.

My husband and I met Sandra over 9 years ago when my daughter was 3 months old. She said something in her interview that has stuck with me “I want to be an extension of you.” For the past 9 years, Sandra has been an extension of my husband and myself. She has given our children, now 9 and 6 years old, love and attention just like a parent. In fact, we joke that Sandra is family for all of us. Sandra is dedicated to our children. Through covid, she did online school work and work through preschool curriculum for over 2.5 years. She brought a gentle way to teaching my kids, most likely from her experience as a preschool teacher. She also knew when to balance their days. One of her favorite activities was finding all the playgrounds in the area for the kids to run and have fun. Another favorite activity that I found her frequently doing was reading. She read constantly to our kids. From our books, to library books, to her own books. I would find my kids with Sandra on the couch reading a pile of books. Furthermore, Sandra has an amazing sense of children’s emotional needs. She really understands when a child needs space, a hug, or a laugh. I am sure that has come from her many years of nannying and raising two sons of her own. However, I think there is something more innate. She can relate to my kids when they were babies, toddlers, and now elementary school age. I have learned a lot from her about the emotional needs of my own children. In conclusion, I highly recommend Sandra for your children. She has this beautiful way of taking care of children that allows kids to flourish while also allowing kids to be themselves. She truly works to be an extension of the parents.
