I enjoy watching children grow into themselves and their resilience is very contagious. I work part-time at a rock climbing gym in Portland, where I teach kids and adults how to climb. In my spare time, I like to rock climb, hike, paint, and playing with animals. I started working with kids when I was fairly young. My little sister is 5 years younger than me, so I began caregiving at a young age. I have been sitting for many years and was even a live-in infant caregiver in an orphanage in Morocco. I am very comfortable with all ages and with children with special needs. As a pet lover and cat owner, I understand the need to have a reliable person to take care of your fur baby. Safiya is incredible. She cared for our daughter part-time from the time she was 6 months old until she was 16 months, and we couldn't have asked for a better caregiver. Her approach with children is warm, playful, and genuinely kind. She has such a gentle, steady presence that made her an emotionally safe and comforting person for our daughter to be with. She loved taking our daughter on walks, to the park, and outside to play in the yard whenever possible. They laughed, played, and formed such a sweet bond—our daughter absolutely adored her. On the practical side, Safiya is responsible, reliable, and easy to communicate with. She was always receptive to feedback, took direction with grace, and was incredibly respectful of our household routines and parenting preferences. We trusted her completely and would recommend her without hesitation.
