About Rene

I have worked with 2 different elderly patients who had dementia for about 4 year. One of them was my favorite grandmother whom I was able to care for until her passing. We had many years of going out for ice cream, wheelchair walks in the park, grocery shopping together, doing puzzles, and enjoying nights of sitting on the back porch reminiscing over stories of the past. Those led into the extremes of dementia , hospice care and finally her passing. My greatest joy is being able to provide safety and comfort for a patient who is now facing the fears in dementia. Both of my grandmothers have passed with dementia so I'm very empathetic and compassionate for the disease that I, one day, will most likely face. I have 5 children and have homeschooled for the past 18 years. I still have 1 teenager living at home that I still teach. Prior to that, I worked in IT. I love to cook, read, do puzzles, sew and be outdoors with my family.
