Hello! My name is Renee, and I am currently an experienced FCPS Kindergarten teacher working in Alexandria. I am currently accepting tutoring sessions for Summer 2024. I am offering tutoring sessions for rising Kindergarteners in preparation for Kindergarten, as well as for Kindergarten and First Grade students who would benefit from the Orton Gillingham method. I have taught Kindergarten for 7 years and also have experience teaching first grade for 3 years. I cover subjects such as reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. My passion is teaching and improving beginning reading and writing skills in Kindergarten and first grade. I am also trained in the Orton Gillingham (OG) multi-sensory methodology for primary grades. With this method, I focus on a combination of building phonological awareness skills, letters, sounds, word families, high-frequency words, decoding skills, encoding skills, writing, and comprehension to improve reading and writing skills.

Renee has worked for us as a nanny for my son and as a babysitter for my 3 children as needed. She is absolutely wonderful! My children adore her and she has a very special connection with each one of them. She is responsible, always on time and very engaging. She really cares for my children and they love it when they know she is coming over. I would highly recommend her services! You would be lucky to have her.
