In the past three years, I have cared for several elderly clients. In an 8 month span, I cared for my 81-year-old mother who had cancer. I was responsible for transporting her to her many doctor/treatment appointments. I managed her home, paid bills, ran errands, shopped for groceries, cleaned and prepared meals. I assisted her with her personal and bathing care. I interfaced with other family members and consulted with her care plans. At the end, I worked with hospice in her final weeks and supported her final wishes. Her friends and family were welcomed and nurtured in her home. I spent a year working for neighborly elderly couple. I assisted them with cleaning their kitchen, doing weekly laundry, light housekeeping tasks, but mostly as a companion for the woman who was a 17 year stroke victim. I assisted her with bathing and grooming skills. I was able to assist them until serious health issues required them to transfer into an assisted living facility and sell their home.
