I have always loved the older generation for their wisdom, stories and wit! I volunteered at Rose Tara Plantation in King providing Sunday Music Ministry for the residents who primarily suffered from Alzheimer's/Dementia for almost three years. I took care of my mother in the beginning and middle stages of Alzheimer's/Dementia. Taking her driving, shopping and once it got to the point she could not deal with the public we would take rides. I learned great patience and how to talk with her without causing major battles which is sometimes hard for family who want their loved one to be as they have always been. I believe that the elderly still have much to offer and deserve our care, love and interest! I have been caregiving for 7 years for a couple (husband passed away last August) and have had several others having dementia that I worked for until they no longer needed me. Senior caregiver. Love the elderly.
