About Rebecca

I have been working at a charter school in the South Bronx for the past 7 years. My first 6 years were as a 2nd grade teacher and this past year I worked as a dean of students. I also tutored 3rd-5th graders to help prepare them for the New York State assessments for 3 years. I received my bachelors degree from Niagara University in Elementary and Special Education. I also received my masters degree from Clemson University with a focus in instructional coaching. In terms of tutoring I always start with getting to know the student (what their likes and dislikes are along with their strengths and struggles) and the family. The first sessions will consist of some testing in ELA/ Reading and Math. This will allow me to get a baseline and isolate skills the student will need to work on. I will also give the family a survey to help pinpoint exactly the areas of concern they have. After testing is completed a comprehensive plan will be created to target the student's needs.
