I love seniors. Growing up, my grandparents were my closest friends. I thought everybody's were. I have worked as a caregiver for several years, mostly with people with Alzheimer's. It is a delicate balance to communicate with our loved ones who cannot remember the way they used to, or whose personalities have changed due to the disease. I am highly skilled at diversion, affirmation, and cognitive behavioral therapy as it pertains to the elderly. In order to care for someone's parent, we must learn to love them as best we can. We must remember that they are very special to many people. Only then can we provide optimal care.
