I appreciate older and younger people who need care. Through Care. com I've had both positions. I cared for a man who had just moved into an assisted living facility. (He suffered from Alzheimer's Disease). His family wanted to make sure that he was not lonely and that he had someone with him as much as possible until he adjusted to his new environment. He used a walker and had moderate dementia - but I found it easy to talk with him. When he showed signs of anxiety I was able to help him move through it using re-direction or distraction. I believe that humor and a lighthearted attitude, when used appropriately (and at the right time) can be helpful to everyone. Also, allowing people of all ages time to express themselves can go a long way in helping them deal with their feelings in any given situation. I have learned to be a good listener. And to be patient. I strive to always be a loving, caring human being. I will treat your loved one with kindness and respect - I promise.
