Quality bedside nursing in acute care rapidly declined after the pandemic COVID-19, shortly after I had become a Registered Nurse. Burnout has never been so prevalent, as we were forced to adapt to the virus in hospitals, with little knowledge on the virus led to lack of resources. Adjusting to the new work environment and conditions was difficult, but as we've slowly gone back to a more normal routine, the unhealthy work environment has not. My favorite part of my shifts in the hospital, whenever I do get a chance, is the good old fashioned story time with my patients. They have the best advice and I honestly learn more about them that way!
