I have worked with seniors in behavioral health and developmental disability settings through state agencies as well as activities director for seniors with dementia & Alzheimer's. I'd describe my personality as empathetic, understanding, and somewhat introverted. I like caring for seniors because one day I will be a senior, and I hope someone will be patient & kind and care for me. Also, my parents are seniors and I love & care for them. I'm looking for a job that is fulfilling and purposeful and can be flexible around my practicum to get my LCSW. I started caring for seniors since I've completed my undergrad in 2012 until 2020 and then again when my parents pushed past 65, starting in 2019. My skills include Gentle Redirection and guidance, when something is forgotten or missed, daily life skills, and good brain/activity supports.
