About Nicky

I tutor students in grades 5-9 in science, pre-algebra, Algebra I, English, reading comprehension, writing, and general homework support. I have a B. S. in Biology and currently work in clinical research at Penn Medicine. Science is my strongest specialty, but I also enjoy helping students strengthen their math foundations, organize assignments, and develop better study habits. Math once intimidated me, but an encouraging eighth-grade teacher helped me rebuild my confidence and find learning strategies that worked for me. Later, tutoring my younger cousins in Algebra I showed me how much I enjoy helping students experience that same breakthrough. Because I was shy as a child, I understand that some students need time before they feel comfortable asking questions. I'm patient, approachable, and committed to creating a judgment-free environment. I break concepts into manageable steps, adapt to each student's learning style, and help them become confident, independent learners.
