About Ndeye

No call, no showed her first day of nanny position. After interviewing Ndeye by phone, speaking to references, and having her meet our children in our home, we offered Ndeye a full-time nanny position. She accepted the position on the phone and in writing, reviewed and agreed to a contract, and we happily set a start date. She agreed on salary, hours, and we were excited to begin working with her on our set start date, 1.5 weeks later. The week before her start date we reached out to discuss logistics and received no reply. Four days before she was supposed to start, she had still not responded to our attempts to confirm logistics. We contacted her again the next day—still nothing. We even contacted one of her references to make sure there hadn't been an emergency. Ultimately, Ndeye never showed up and never notified us in any manner of her intention to no-show. We were left to scramble for backup childcare at the last minute and had to restart our nanny position search, now on a desperate timeline. If she had simply told us that she had changed her mind for whatever reason, we would have been disappointed, but understood and importantly would have been able to make alternative arrangements. Instead, she left us hanging to find childcare, without the basic courtesy or professionalism of communicating that she was no longer coming. We are fortunate that we attempted to coordinate again the week beforehand and assumed the worst from her sudden lack of responsiveness, otherwise no one would have been there to care for our children on her intended start date when she just did not show up for work. For a nanny position caring for children, this level of unreliability and lack of communication is extremely concerning. I would strongly caution any family who needs dependable childcare against hiring Ndeye.
