About Nancy

My father passed away a few years ago after a five year bout with cancer. It was a long haul. My mother was in NJ and had to deal with this without the help of her four daughters. Although we all took turns traveling, there was no consistent relief from anyone except my brother. As I grow older, I realize that I, too, will need assistance sometime in my life. I believe that aging is the most difficult challenge that one will ever face, especially when one has no control over his/her existence and well-being. This is a very sensitive time for our aging neighbors. I once gave my father a plaque that read "Growing old is not for wimps". He truly struggled and it was difficult for him to trust others. We were fortunate that we had a home health aide that worked well with him. She was very sensitive to his needs and concerns. Senior care requires not only performing the necessary physical requirements but the emotional and mental ones as well.
