About Monica

I am an excellent writer and reader and love to teach and tutor! I'm confident in my abilities, given a history of always placing 1st-3rd in UIL competitions in categories such as impromptu speech, oral reading, and writing. My bachelor's is in Mass Communication/Journalism which also has me highly proficient in, and able to tutor in, grammar, sentence structure, as well as persuasive and effective, creative writing. I taught highschool for two years, as well as tutoring them for their STAAR exams, leading to a 100% passing rate of my group of students (about 50 total). I motivate and empower my students based in their interests and individual needs, fostering a positive, inclusive environment, and modeling consistency. I have tutored through the online platform Varsity Tutors for a year as well, in both writing and Public Speaking.
