About Mikayla

I've spent the last three years working one on one with students who need to slow down from the pace of the general education classroom. I help to reteach, rephrase, and reiterate lessons to help students better understand. The most feedback I get from my students is in math. Students tell me that they were so confused and that I helped to make the problems feel easy. I also love demonstrating scientific concepts to students. From actual experiments that create a mess of foam to demonstrating Newton's Laws of Motion using household items. Overall, I love to teach and see that "lightbulb" moment when a student finally gets it. I'd describe myself as silly, kind, and creative. I tutor because I get to work with a diverse population of students and see them experience the rewards of hard work as they flourish and succeed academically.
