I have worked for over three years in school and home settings as teacher, home support caretaker, community caretaker, and friend and mentor to teenagers and young adults with physical and developmental challenges. Specifically, I have three years of experience working with communication, social and language development with those on the Autism Spectrum, in their homes and in the community. I would like to expand my vocation as a personal assistant and property caretaker in home and community settings for families or individuals with the need for a helpful, loyal, creative, and knowledgeable assistant. I am most happy to provide a resume with detailed information regarding my experience and background in order to help provide a more complete picture of my strengths and experience. The resume includes references who will be happy to provide you with insight into my character, loyalty, and work ethic. I find kinship in Martha Nussbaum's Capability Approach to interpreting human thriving. The basic premise of the approach is that the freedom to achieve human thriving is a matter of what each individual person is able to do and be, and that each person deserves the dignity and freedom of person hood and thriving. My educational background is in literature and the arts. I have spent time in South America through a grant from Ithaca College to document the displaced populations of Medellin, Colombia, and am currently working on a long-term book project involving the history of Centralia, Pennsylvania.
