About Michael

I am an electrical engineer with a Master's of Science in electrical engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. I am currently working on science and technology policy for the federal government and formerly doing research at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. I have 2 years of paid teaching experience as a university lab instructor and much more as an informal teaching at all education and professional levels on complex STEM topics. My role as an engineer, and now as a public servant, centers on communicating STEM ideas for different audiences. I have developed these skills over a career of formal and informal teaching. My philosophy focuses on teaching concepts and ensuring students have a strong foundation in the STEM basics. Whenever possible, I integrate visuals and physical demonstration to illustrate how these concepts manifest in real life. Rhis can also help students retain and recall knowledge more readily.
