Hello! My name is Mia, and I'm an educator who mainly specializes in working with children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Having two siblings with severe mental illnesses and another with autism, I learned caretaking from a young age. By high school, I was part-term respite care worker for children with disabilities and medical challenges. I learned how to tailor care to each individual's needs, treating them with kindness, respect, and willingness to understand the best ways of comfortable care. My brother's schizophrenia diagnosis helped me understand crisis response and the importance of medication. Working with clients with epilepsy, I was familiar with drug administration and facilitation. The past 3 years, I have been an elementary educator, working in the US and South Korea. I am looking for weekend part-time shifts to get into the community and find work outside of grad school.
