About Melissa

I have a current MN teaching license in Communication Arts and Literature 5-12 and specialize in HS English and Speaking. I have taught in the charter school system in the cities and have encountered a wide range of incredible students and have (hopefully) been able to assist each of them in their educational journey. I have a proven track record of successful tutoring; every single student I have helped with ACT and SAT test prep has increased test scores in a measurable way. Not only that, when I tutor a student, I don't focus on the skill set as a means to achieving a higher test score - I help the student apply what I teach them in a long-term way (i. e.: How will learning this skill help me in college? How can I apply it in my life?). I also have a lot of experience with students with specific obstacles to their learning success. I am very comfortable working with students who have ADHD, ASH, dyslexia, as well as students who are pursuing English as another language.
