About Maya

I'd describe my personality as patient, empathetic, and calm My mother was a preschool teacher. Some of my earliest memories were in a classroom. I began volunteering with children when I was in middle school. What started with mentorship roles grew into tutoring and college access work. In my spare time, I like to travel, go to museums, volunteer, and hike One thing you should know about me is I was a tutor for students in the south Bronx for almost 3 years. I worked with students ranging from kindergarten to junior year of high school. I went to Manhattan College for my bachelor's degree and double majored in Political Science and Religious Studies. I currently attend Bard College and am getting a Masters degree in teaching with a focus on history.
