About Maya

With over a decade of experience in child care and education, I value the connections formed in helping a child grow and experience the world. I began as a dance teacher and sewing instructor, have been a sleepaway camp counselor, and a pre-school through high school tutor, in addition to regular babysitting and mothers helper roles. I have a huge passion for crafts and hand on learning, as well as reading! I even have my own at home library with plenty of middle grade and young adult books. My degree is in fashion design (I have worked in this field for close to five years) and English. As the eldest child of a single parent, I grew up looking after others and helping in their care and development. This also meant that I appreciated the time and effort from my own babysitters who helped my mom, and I saw the impact it had on her life as well as ours. I hope to be able to do the same!
