I cared for my grandmother so she was able to remain in her apartment. I took care of her for three years until she passed. After my father passed I moved in with my mother. I took care of her for 8 years. A year later a friend asked me if I would stay overnight with her mother in order to give her a nights respite. Her mother suffered from Parkinson's disease and needed around the clock care. When my uncle passed, his wife, who was his caregiver needed help. Her daughter and I set up a schedule for my aunts care. I provided companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping and laundry. My most recent client was a woman in the early stages of dementia. I provided companionship, light house keeping, meal preparation and errands. She lived alone and it became necessary for her to live with her daughter. Unfortunately, my assistance was no longer needed. I spent three and a half years with her and we had a wonderful relationship. I still keep in touch with her and her daughters.
