I'm a retired nurse and I love babies! I've been babysitting or raising children or taking care of grandchildren since I was a teenager, so for a long time! Now that I'm retired, I'm looking for some flexible pocket money and some time with small children.

Mary has provided care for my 3 month old daughter and 3 year old son. My son really enjoyed spending time with her! She did a great job with my daughter as well. I was nervous my daughter would not eat from a bottle if not nursing but Mary was able to get her to eat! She presented on time and is very profesisonal. I will be hiring Mary again.

We were visiting from out of town and needed childcare for a wedding. It is always nerve-wracking leaving an 11 month old somewhere new but Mary eased any worry we had the second we met her. She was so warm and playful with our daughter, evening getting her out for a nice walk and fresh air. She was communicative through the entire evening and sent us photos and updates which we loved. We can’t thank her enough for giving us the comfort to enjoy the evening and recommend her to anyone in a similar situation. We would hire Mary again in a second!

Mary arrived few minutes early and was so warm to us and our baby. Our 3 month old usually cries with new people but he instantly got attached to her and was such a happy baby. We are glad we found her and highly recommend specially for newborn babies.

Mary was an excellent caregiver for my 18mo son, while I was traveling from out of town to Durham. If I am back in the area, I would definitely rehire her!

I loved Mary! She was on time, very affectionate with my son, and met his needy wants. I would hire her again!

Mary was absolutely wonderful with our 16 month old! He hasn’t spent much time with babysitters (so I was a bit nervous) but he took to her immediately. She was obviously very experienced and I really couldn’t have asked for a better caregiver. I plan to have her back often!

Mary watched our 8 month old for 2 nights while we were at a wedding. She was easy to communicate with ahead of the weekend and we felt totally at ease with her. Most importantly, Mary was wonderful with our son. She took him for a walk, played with him, fed him dinner and put him to sleep. All went very smoothly. If we’re ever back in the Raleigh area we would love to have Mary babysit our son again.

We hired Mary to fill a gap in our usual childcare during a work week. Mary is the first non-family caregiver we've had, but our baby girl took to her right away. My husband and I both work from home and we can hear her happily squealing in the other room. Mary is also super conscientious about following our wake window schedule, and baby slept great on the days she was here. We feel totally confident in Mary's care, and will hire her again.

Wonderful experience! It was our first time leaving our little one with anyone, other than family, and Mary put us quickly at ease. She kept in touch with us while we were out, which was greatly appreciated! She was a natural with our two month old, did tummy time, read, books, and engage with him throughout the day. Happy to have found her!

We hired Mary to watch our 2.5 yr old son and we would definitely hire again! She was kind, respectful, experienced, and reliable. She communicated very well, including about scheduling, clarifying expectations/child's needs, and gave a nice run through of the morning/early afternoon when I came home. This was our first time hiring someone from care.com, and she was very understanding of our anxiety about leaving our child with someone new. She helped calm our nerves in a reassuring and nonjudgemental way, was open to answering questions about her experience, etc. My son occasionally has some issues with separation (and did the day she was here) and she skillfully re-directed his attention. My child was happy and well cared for when I came home! She left the play area tidy and was respectful of our home. She seems to have experience with newborns, which is great as we are expecting another child soon. We hope to hire her again!

I hired Mary to care for my 16-month-old for our daughter's first time away from us. I was extremely anxious to leave her for the first time, but Mary's resume and qualifications helped to put me at ease. Knowing that Mary has spent her whole nursing career working with pediatric patients was a selling point for me as a fellow nurse. Mary kept me updated almost hourly with wonderful pictures of our smiling daughter to help ease my mind. When we returned that evening, Mary did not simply say thanks and leave. She gave me a full report of the day just as a nurse would. She reported her fluid and food intake for the day, amount of time slept and the number of diaper changes throughout the day. The day that I had feared the most turned out to be one of the best experiences we could have possibly had with a caregiver, who, before that day was a stranger. If you want someone who interacts with your child and could respond to any situation with a nurse's mindset - Mary is your person. She is a pleasant and caring soul. There are not enough good things to say about her. Our daughter cried when she left! We will 100% use Mary every single time we have to come to Durham!
