I have had a special love for all animals since childhood. I was around cats mostly and appreciate all their special qualities. Since 2000, I have had golden retrievers and cats and then in 2018 when I was an empty nester, I became a Muddy Paws volunteer. They screen their fosters and adopters carefully and do a home visit. They gave me excellent in-home training on how to care for my dog and the necessity of positive behavior reinforcement that was beyond what I knew before. I drove animals to meet and greets, walked them and picked them up from out of town to foster homes to help them get adopted. I fostered a difficult dog case and she became my current pet adoptee. Now that my dog has had 7 years to adjust and become a wonderful, relaxed companion, she is low maintenance and I have room in my heart and schedule for pet care that allows me to still have time to go home and care for my own dog on a family's schedule.
