About Mary Claire

I have been an RN since 1985 and have been fully retired since 2014. I relocated to Florida at that time and planned to spend my days relaxing at the beach and pursuing new hobbies and interests. Well, even another day of pleasure can become routine and meaningless after a few years and I feel like getting back to the kind of patient contact I enjoyed in my working days. My Nursing experience includes working at Nursing Homes and community hospitals. My last 25 years were at the same hospital on its Behavioral Health Unit. Our patients ranged from adolescents to geriatrics and were in all states of physical and mental health. They could be ambulatory and rambunctious or total care and depressed. We did whatever was required whenever it was required in a fast paced acute care setting. Since I have been in Florida I have been a Volunteer with Hospice of St. Francis. I currently have two clients who I visit weekly. We talk, read and just hang out together.
