As a freshman in college, I took an English service learning course in which I was required to visit a third grader at school twice a week for 45 minutes and read with him. He had some speech problems and came from a non English-speaking family so it was very helpful for him to have someone twice a week come read with him and improve his speech. It gave me a sense of accomplishment knowing that my services helped a child in need.
