About Marlene

I developed much of my knowledge and skill in caring for children growing up as the oldest of 8. My first nannying position was with a family of 2 biological and 4 adopted children; there I accomplished everything from meal preparation and general housework to tutoring in most academic subjects and arranging/overseeing outings, even traveled with them abroad. I kept that position for almost four years, until I went away to college in California to finish my four-year degree. Through college I consistently had work babysitting in the evenings, nannying some weekends and teaching a preschool singing class. I also accompanied professors on teaching trips as a nanny. I am currently teaching 6th grade in a classical school; my work background includes teaching choir (pre-k - 12), as well as teaching literature, theater. I'm ready and willing to tutor in any subject through high-school level (and art or literature subjects at college level)! My other part-time job at the moment is where I act/sing characters for children's birthday parties (mostly Disney princesses); so I know how to bring the creative play, too!
