Marilyn was my mother's caregiver for the last 5 years until her passing last month. She went above and beyond in every conceivable way. Other caregivers would just be there to make sure she didn't fall, take her vitals a few times a day and take her to doctor's appointments. Marilyn did all of that as well as keeping track of her meds, cooked her meals, took her shopping, did her hair, helped her do her gardening (essentially doing all of the work as my mother directed), went out to eat with her, taking her to her favorite restaurants and became her best friend and a member of our family. When taking her to doctor's appointments, she didn't just sit by the side, she was an advocate for my mother, making sure she got the treatments she needed and informing the doctor of medications that she was unable to take. When she would have to stay in the hospital Marilyn still showed up and sat with her so she wouldn't be alone. When she was sick and needed help through the night, Marilyn stayed with her until her regular shift the next day. She was there for her and for us right until the end, holding my mother's hand as she passed. We couldn't have asked for a better caregiver and you'd be hard pressed to find a better one. She has truly been a blessing to our family. Because of Marilyn, my mother was able to live comfortably in her own home until she passed.
