Hi there! My name is Mariel - I am from Brazil and a current Nutrition and Dietetics major. Before going back to college, I was an Au Pair in NYC for over two years where I was able to gain experience with different ages. Back home, I was a baker and owned a bakery with my cousins; thus, one of my favorite things to do with kids is baking. I've baked some amazing Brazilian recipes with American kids and their favorite recipe is always the Brazilian brigadeiros and Brazilian carrot cake. I also grew up in a big family and always liked taking care of my little cousins. I've babysat many kids with a variety of ages. I'm very responsible, active, creative, a great cook (always enjoy introducing some Brazilian dishes to the kids) and I'm an easy going person. I'm looking for occasional babysitting or a part-time job that would be flexible with my college schedule. My first language is Portuguese, but I also speak Spanish, and English, of course. As a single father, childcare was a little more difficult than I expected. My son, R., was a bit more than I could handle after working a full workday. Mariel was a very attentive and caring worker who helped me pick up any slack that I was unable to handle. Some days she worked mornings, some days she worked evenings, depending on my schedule and no matter when I needed her she was available with a smile on her face. My son loved her and I was just grateful for him to have a positive, albeit temporary, female influence in his life. I'd gladly hire her again, and I wish her well in the future.
