Lorena was a wonderful nanny to our 2 year old - teaching him patience, how to deal with new emotions, self play, etc.  She comes with vast knowledge on health and eating which is a welcome to all busy parents!  She is good with being lighthearted and fun when a toddler is emotionally charged.  She was also a nanny to our 5 month old daughter. Our reason for not having a 5 star review is:  i) She's better with older kids than with infants ii) She's better with one kid than two, iii) Breached contract with less than a 2 week notice iv) challenge multitasking and iv) Our work ethic expectations didn't match. We've worked with several nannies before and believe in being able to take rest but found the rigidity impacting our work calendars. 

She would be a wonderful nanny for the right family depending on their circumstances and we wish her the best!

Lorena was helpful to me as a first time parent of twins who was transitioning back to working full time. She leverages several years of experience in performing her duties as a nanny, and she provided us with many helpful suggestions of support. Lorena was punctual at the start of every day, and offered much flexibility when we needed to extend hours. Lorena engaged the babies in lots of tummy time and developmentally appropriate play. She read them books and spoke to them in Spanish per our request. Most exceptionally, Lorena assisted with the infants' oral surgery recovery exercises, and followed our instructions closely and confidently. We are very grateful for the care and love she showed to our babies during her time with us!

I'll be honest: I had been hesitating to write this review, not wanting Maria Lorena's availability to decrease -- as she is what you dream about when you picture a nanny. However, the fact that the poster below chose to penalize Maria Lorena -- and her livelihood -- for the failings of a completely wonky website shows a lack of perspective I find staggering. As a nanny and babysitter employer, we receive scores of applicants daily, and we certainly don't reply to them all. To expect that from someone, who frankly doesn't have a computer, speaks English well but as a second language, and who is working all day, tells far more about them than Maria Lorena. In truth, Maria Lorena is hard-working, warmhearted, and the rarest of skills: anticipatory. We can not recommend her highly enough. SHE IS THE BEST!

Non responsive candidate when emailed...would be nice if common courtesy, communication is basic and a simple response (interested/not interested) is pretty simple, especially when they're the ones posting their profile looking for opportunities....find these people questionable!

I am delighted to be able to write this recommendation for our former Spanish tutor, Lorena R. 

On first meeting us, Lorena unhesitatingly took on the challenge of trying to figure out a Spanish class that could appeal to, and benefit, both myself (an intermediate Spanish student) and my husband (a rank beginner).  And, despite the difference in our backgrounds Lorena succeeded in developing a class that was sensitive both to my need for a challenge and my husband s need not to be overwhelmed.  We both not only improved our Spanish substantially but we had such fun doing it!   These are just a few of the unique activities Lorena offered us:
1. Taking us on outings (in Spanish) to stores, to restaurants, to Disneyland - wherever.  
2. Helping us prepare dinners from recipes written in Spanish and then eating the meals - in Spanish. 
3. Playing games, learning songs (in Spanish, of course).

From our public Spanish activities, I was also able to observe Lorena s strong interpersonal skills, her concern for the well-being of others, and the pride she feels when she s knows she s doing outstanding work.

It was a privilege to have Lorena as our tutor and I recommend her without reservation.

 Lorena has taken unparalleled care of our son age 6, and our daughter almost 3, since August of 2013. Lorena is loving, responsible, intelligent, and empowering. When she first began, she took care of our three year old son, our newborn, and a mother with a broken leg. She has enriched our household and made our lives better. She has the quiet radiance of a saint and is devoted to others. By her own example, Lorena brings out the best in people their smiles, their laughter, and their sympathies. Lorena drops our son off at school every morning and accompanies our daughter to dance, music, and swimming classes three times each week. She is an extremely cautious and responsible driver who keeps her car in excellent repair. Lorena has stayed overnight with our children on two occasions and has accompanied us on a family vacation to Colorado.

We've been truly grateful for such a kind, gentle, and thoughtful person in our lives. Lorena is a true professional: always prompt, ever reliable, and keenly attuned to the needs of those she cares for. She has spent 50 hours a week with us for the past three years and we know and love her own grown children. Lorena has become a trusted and loved member of our family.

Lorena is looking for a new family because our daughter is beginning school in August. Ideally, Lorena would like to work with a newborn in a long-term position, and would be available to begin immediately. She lives in Northridge and is willing to commute up to 30 minutes.

Maria is great with children, she recently met my little 2 year old sister and 3 year old brother, and they loved her. She has a passion to help others in need and is willing to hear any directions or corrections. She has a great sense of humor and always knows how to cheer someone up. She is hard working and likes to be organized. She is someone to go to for advice or any questions about life.
