About Marianne

I am a retired Sped. Ed. Teacher with experience in regular classrooms from PreKindergarten to Grade 8. I have 2 advanced degrees beyond my masters in Reading and Language Arts. I have SC teacher certification (#255375: Elementary, Early Childhood, Literacy Teacher and Multi-Categorical Special Ed) I have tutored after school and weekends students from PreK to Grade 8, following many of them from Kindergarten to College Applications. I have often worked with several children in the family both as tutor and support person. While my teaching specialties are reading and math, I have always considered my strength to be enabling students to become successful. After working with emotionally and behaviorally challenged students as well as learning "disabled" students all day in school, my fundamental belief after 40 years is that self esteem is a major factor in any students' success' story... not just learning but having someone who cares. I recently have had the excitement of teaching a nonspeaking/miming 2-year-old to "use his words" and am teaching a 4-month-old vocabulary and prereading skills. I am learning from these little ones all the time.
