I am an experienced childcare professional looking for a part time summer position while on summer break from my Yale MFA in Acting, but have previously worked as the Learning and Development Manager and Teacher for an early childhood program based on the Reggio Emilia approach. I graduated from Northwestern, where I studied Psychology (with focus on cognitive science) and Theatre. In my experience in nannying and childcare, I have taken classes and professional development courses in early childhood development, classroom management, developmental activities, ServSafe Food Handling and Preparation, CPR/First Aid and Infant CPR/FA, and also specialize in activities and educational materials for fostering positive racial identity and inclusive practices in early childhood. Mariah was undoubtedly the best possible nanny we could have hired to help care for our now 15 month old son, L. At the time, we were two work from home parents with demanding jobs and a baby who was quickly growing into a toddler-lite stage. Mariah watched L during the day from 10 to 14 months old, and we truly credit her with his development during that time span. From teaching him how to effectively sign to the daily, detailed summaries of his activities and behavior (with photos and short videos!), she was consistently prepared and on point. We relied on her to keep L happy and engaged without much direction, and she exceeded our expectations - art projects, a glitter tube (that he still plays with to date), sensory objects, all with materials she purchased no less. She took him to the park almost daily, served healthy breakfast and lunch, changed diapers, practiced extremely safe COVID prevention measures (masked during shift at our request) the list goes on! Suffice to say, we highly recommend her as a nanny and professional, and we wish her the very best!
