I was a home care and hospice nurse for many years. I have also worked in nursing homes, caring for seniors. I lead a support group for The Alzheimer's Association for families caring for loved ones with Alzheimers and dementia. You learn the 'art of negotiation' when caring for people who have memory loss. Family members caring for loved ones need a lot of support. I think that awareness is important for the people who have been affected and how they can be helped. I know there is a group here in Saline who have made it their mission to bring awareness into the community by starting Dementia Friendly Saline. I do love working with elders. I have a lot of respect for the hardworking people negotiating this phase of their life.
